We operate a bidding number system. Bidding numbers are issued from our office. The Auction:
Lots are offered for sale in numerical order as they appear in the catalogue. The lots go under the hammer at a rate of 100-120 lots per hour. Please arrive at our rooms in good time. Bids are increased by increments at the auctioneer's discretion. It is important to keep your bidding number, as this will be your reference for payment.
Antiques Auctions generally take place every Thursday from 10am in our Montgomery Street saleroom. Viewing is on on Wednesday from 9am - 5pm and the day of sale. We have a cafe in the building where you can enjoy a nice lunch or coffee and scone.Absentee Bidding
If you are unable to attend an auction, Ross's can bid on your behalf. In order to absentee bid you can either fill out an electronic absentee bidding form available by clicking the 'absentee bid' button on any lot's page.Telephone Bids:
This may be arranged on lots with a minimum estimate of £400. As the number of telephone lines are limited, early booking is essential. Please contact the office to reserve a line on 028 9032 5448. Ross's staff will telephone you in advance of the lot going under the hammer.Live Bidding:
Some of our auctions support 'Live bidding' which allows you to follow an auction and bid as you please from the comfort of your own home. We provide a video stream of the auction with audio. There will be a 3% charge on the hammer price for all purchases made through the live bidding medium.Buyers Premium:
The buyer shall pay the auctioneer a commission of 20% of the hammer price. VAT is payable on the commission at the prevailing rate. Payment:
All purchases must be paid for at close of sale or otherwise by arrangement with Ross's. Our payment terms are cash, bankers draft, credit or debit card. Cheques should be guaranteed to the satisfaction of the auctioneers prior to sale. Bank transfer details are available on request. Goods will only be released upon payment clearance.Collection & Delivery
Porters are in attendance to assist with the collection of purchases. Goods become the responsibility of the buyer from the fall of the hammer and are entirely at the buyers risk. Goods should be removed within two working days of purchase or otherwise by arrangement with Ross's.
